A Very Very Simple Useless Post

Update with Me!

Last night I did I think about 3 ‘pass-it-on’ notes on Facebook. They have similar things on blogs too, don’t they? It’s fun. ^=^ Not many people tag me to do it, though. :( So, anyway, this blog post has no main topic. It’s just a random post posted because I have nothing better to do! Isn’t that the greatest reason?

I tried to colour one of my drawings on Photoshop this morning, but ended up with miserable results, so it was discarded, unfortunately. I don’t have the patience for it. I’m only patient when it comes to waiting for someone, when waiting for someone, I’ll just daydream. Daydreaming doesn’t take much effort. I’m impatient with something you have to put effort into. Tsk, it explains alot, doesn’t it?

Girl Guides Lyrics Sheet!

That over there is my Girl Guides Lyrics Hand-Out. I doodled on it once while waiting for the Sims game to load. It was quite long ago, this. Oh, by the way, I scanned it in because I thought the drawing of the semi-face over there is cool. :) I even cropped it out! See the straight curly line there? Haha. My curly lines happen to be straighter than my solid straight lines, ironically. :] And Benjamin Long isn’t anyone! Benjamin Long is just a non-player character in the Sims 2. I forgot what he did to my Sim (or my house) but it kind of pissed me off so I wrote ‘Benjamin Long sucks’. It looks like Benjamin Sucks Long, right? But that doesn’t make any sense. ^=^

Girl Guides Lyrics Sheet!

Cropped the face out with Photoshop but rotated it with Photoscape. And the edges of the paper were erased with Photoshop, so yeah, it looks like this. Rotating images with Photoscape seems easier to me. You have to input the degree of rotation for Photoshop and I think you can’t preview it, while Photoscape, you just drag the to the angle you want.

I think I’m obsessed with posting pictures on my blog. I’m using Windows Live Writer and it’s SO easy to post pictures! And it’s a faster-uploader than Blogger, so I’m currently sticking with Windows Live Writer. :) 1 more picture!

Mizuki!

This is Mizuki, from Lucky Star. She’s one of my favourite characters. :) I actually sketched this from a picture drawn by someone else. :/ See my trademark eyes? Those aren’t the eyes the original artist drew. Heheh. Oh, by the way, do you see words in the background? Well, the back of this paper was my Literature assignment. I had printed an extra one accidentally but see, I didn’t waste the paper! I recycled it!

There’s quite a difference, isn’t there? The posture… The sandwich… The eyes… :] Of course the original is always better.

Shalyn.

I’m No Fashionista
08 June 2009

Update with Me

Well, I’ve gotten my new pair of glasses today. (Finally!) I also had tuition today, which probably explains my absence on MSN all day. Just who am I talking to exactly? It doesn’t matter! I like blogging and it’s what I’m gonna do even if no one is here to read about the stuff I write. :]

Let's get to the Point

Today I'm gonna talk about teenage fashion trends. First, I have researched (yeah, right) Fashion on Wikipedia.

Fashion refers to the styles and customs prevalent at a given time. In its most common usage, "fashion" exemplifies the appearances of clothing, but the term encompasses more.

That’s the definition of Fashion. Now, I’m not going into Fashion types that do not have anything to do with teenagers. Let’s start with the girls. The need to stay in Fashion probably started in Europe. The high-status ladies of Europe liked to powder their faces and wear ridiculous dresses, and of course the corsets – the belief that the tighter the corsets are, the ‘sexier’ or, maybe they preferred the term, ‘sophisticated’ they look. I’m not going to go much into the Fashion trends during that time because I wasn’t living then.

Marie Antoinette during that time. I suppose they think this looks good? Hm, I agree that it does, though. She’s a little meaty, though. Her hair is so high… I think they dress like this because it makes them look taller too? Who knows?

King Louis XV, husband of Marie Antoinette. He looks… interesting. Hey, this was their Fashion during that time!

Oh, listen to this. There was a time when the males liked to wear leggings under a tailored top, like a tunic, remember? Well, it started because they began to shorten their overcoats. From the calf to barely covering their butts. Sometimes they stuffed their chests to make them look bigger too. So, then all of that developed into something new: wear leggings under a tailored top. Way to start the gay fashion, guys!

European Fashion was seemingly the quickest to change. Asian countries didn’t change their Fashion much. The Europeans usually remarked about this, so they’re probably very proud with their pace of change in Fashion. The Asians should be jealous too, or unhappy by their cockiness, so they began to suspect that the Europeans had an unstable organization because they were going too fast, and everything was messy. The Japanese Shogun’s secretary even boasted that Japanese fashion has not changed for over a thousand years. A nobody and yet he/she dares to open his/her mouths. Though, there were slow but definite changes in the Chinese’s Fashion.

Jin Dynasty Clothing.

Emperor TianQi from the Ming Dynasty.

Alright, now that we’re done with the History. Heh, some what done, anyway, right? I showed you nice pictures, be grateful! Anyway, it looks like even Fashion was some kind of competition between countries/continents. Who knows? Fashion could be the cause of a world war one day! Kind of hard to believe, but since everyone was and is treating Fashion with so much importance, who knows what will happen in the future?

Let’s get on with the Fashion of different countries. Since we live in Asia, I think it’ll be more useful to cover more of Asian trends rather than trends of countries like the US or Great Britain, right? Let’s discuss Asian countries with more interesting trends.

In Japan, they have something called subcultures. Lolita Clothing, Ganguro Clothing etc. Japanese people are undoubtedly more creative. They prefer to stand out than blend in. Blending makes them stand out instead (As provided by Val-Pal). So as not to seem ‘abnormal’ they dress abnormally. Stupid, but that’s the way it is. To them, being original is the most important. They don’t care what other people think and I think, honestly, people don’t care what they’re wearing because it’s original. You don’t see others staring at you if you’re wearing a cardboard box in Japan. But maybe that’s a bit exaggerated. In Japan, you can dress freely without anyone staring or whispering at you or about you. That’s the beauty of living in Japan. They don’t have a certain trend, they make their own trends. Their own trends that only they use. It’s so cool.

I find Taiwan nothing more than a country that’s trying to catch up with Japan’s creativity. Sorry, Taiwan, you’re not as interesting as Japan in terms of dressing up. Even though some of the ways the people dress there is impressive, I always find that they lack something. What that something is? I don’t truly know. I also know that there’s something about the way they dress that eludes this Japan-y feeling, and it can’t help but make me feel that they’re copying Japan. Thus, I don’t really like Taiwan and I don't find them interesting enough to pay much attention to them. For example, the show Jou-Chan recommended… hm, Devil Beside You, is it? Well, whatever, I’ll show you a picture of Raine Yang, the actress of the lead character in that show. And then one of the screenshots.

In the first picture, just look! That hat! It’s screaming Japan! But she’s Taiwanese! And in the second picture, what the heck is up with her hair? Only Japanese people can truly pull it off! She’s not the only one! Oh, and another thing about Raine Yang is that she likes to act cute. You can’t act cute, girl! Only Japanese people can do that! And they pull it off with A BOMB. Maybe it’s only me but I find that they’re just trying to hard. They try to be Japanese but fail by just an inch, sadly. Oh, please ignore the intimate scene Raine Yang and Mike He are sharing in the second picture. They’re not in lurve yet. He looks terrible, doesn’t he? In that stupid-looking hair? Maybe he was trying to be like Doumyoji from Hana Yori Dango. Nah, just kidding. The Japanese show/Korean show hasn’t came out yet then.

Now, Singapore Fashion. Not much to say about Singapore Fashion… Everyone knows how we’re dressed. Everywhere you turn to, you see girls in shorts and guys in skinny jeans. Okay, maybe I’m just paranoid or something but I find that the girls are too revealing! Just why do you want to wear tube tops? You’re teenagers, you shouldn’t be wearing something like that! You can wait when you’re older, can’t you? Don’t know you there are more and more young rapers in Singapore and yet you expose yourself so much! Can’t you show some decency? Some privacy? Some PRIDE? Are you telling us that you WANT to be raped by these perverts? Please, God, no! I don’t want foreigners to think us like that! And those shorts… You’re like wearing you underwear, do you know that?! It’s not covering anything! And your thighs aren’t exactly the prettiest sight if you’re bubbling with fats.

Guys, you just look terribly GAY in skinny jeans! Will you drop them? Skinny jeans are meant for GIRLS. I bet the guy who started wearing skinny jeans is either gay or some blur octopus who thought that those were normal jeans that were a little tight. Come on, can’t you see that it’s GAY?! Are you trying to say you’re GAY? Well, not that I discriminate them… It’s just that, if you’re not, why do you want people to think you are? Pretending to be them? Pretence isn’t exactly appreciated here. I don’t get what is so nice about them on guys. They just make your butt and wallet seen. Girls are able to pull them off but guys, no.

Actually, I find that America would be the best place if you are Fashion-conscious. They’re a total fun, colourful mixture! They may not exactly pull off Japanese Fashion, but they don’t elude the feeling of trying-too-hard either. And they know how to dress sophisticatedly, giving themselves a good name. :) GO, AMERICA.

P.S. Just sharing some of my thoughts. My tuition teacher had talked to me about how revealing the way the girls are dressed nowadays in Singapore just because it’s a ‘trend’.

How JB Fans Stay in Shape
07 June 2009

I’ve been watching Jonas Brothers Music Videos all night! I watched their Music Video ‘Tonight’ and there’s this really cool part when they show girls jumping over some sort of barrier instead of running round the barrier to chase after the Jonas Brothers. Well, here’s a picture.

JBFans(2)

She’s wearing pink shoes… Just proof that it’s really a girl who’s chasing after them. But I’m sure it’s pretty obvious. Why would the Jonas Brothers have male fans? They’re the dream guys of almost every tween girl out there in America, the males are probably jealous. Unless the guy is a gay, then that’s a different story. Gays have good taste, going after Jonas Brothers? Not good taste.

You see, chasing after the Jonas Brothers really does a body good. They are actually stupid enough to go out on the streets parading themselves. They should know that a mob of crazy fangirls would chase after them. Idiots. Well, okay, enough with the criticising of their intelligence. Oh, sorry, they don’t have any. Let’s talk about their appearances.

In a recent Music Video, Paranoid (the song is actually half-bad), the three of them are seen sporting similar hairstyles – the curly hair. Even Joe Jonas is wearing that hairstyle! I believe it was Nicholas Jonas, or Nick Jonas, who started this hairstyle among the brothers. He’s the original. Then Kevin Jonas changed his straight hair to curly hair. And only recently, Joe Jonas decided Nick Jonas was attracting all those ‘chicks’ because of his hair. Smart, Joe Jonas, you’re now an imitation. Even Kevin Jonas doesn’t look as bad as Joe Jonas with curly hair. What else is Joe Jonas gonna do to get more attention? Inject himself with some kind of solution that’ll give him diabetes? Moron!

JJIsAMoron

There the stupid-looking dude is! The back of the head at the other far end is Joe Jonas’s, it’s part of the MV. Sorry, I had to pause the video and print-screen it and then crop this small portion out and then do necessary editing (the addition of words). Enough with their appearances, let’s talk about their partners, as in their girlfriends.

Nick Jonas, as rumours state, is currently dating Selena Gomez, Alex from Wizards of Waverly Place, I'm sure you've heard of her. Selena Gomez seems like a really nice person. I don’t dislike her. But her face is kind of squished. I knew there was an annoying look about Selena Gomez’s face and never really noticed her face was squished until my sister told me so. But, besides her squished-up face, Selena Gomez is alright. Before Selena Gomez, he dated Miley Cyrus (Disney people have to stick together, aye?). Now, I dislike Miley Cyrus. Her voice annoys me. Her singing voice, I hate to admit, is alright. I just hate her normal voice. Where’s her accent? She’s suppose to have the same accent as her father, Billy Ray Cyrus! She had to get rid of the accent in preparation for Hannah Montana, but then later, the producers decided to add Billy Ray Cyrus into the show even though he can’t act for his life. What idiots. I would prefer Miley Cyrus with her accent, but even if she has her accent, I suppose her antics would still be done, which is the main reason why I dislike her. Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus are both proud Christians and Nick Jonas wears a promise ring. By wearing a promise ring, they can’t have sex until they married their partners. But Nick Jonas had sex with Miley Cyrus and they weren’t married, obviously. Nick Jonas – Not a Virgin. He’s the youngest and yet the first to have sex out of the three brothers. Kevin, being the oldest, must be ashamed.

Speaking of Kevin Jonas, he has a girlfriend. Some unknown girl. She’s not in the entertainment business, which is good. :) Good choice, Kevin Jonas. At least if she does something wild, the paparazzi wouldn’t care much. But, now you’re dating her, so would they care more now? But Kevin Jonas had the least number of fangirls, so maybe they’re not very interested in smudging his name.

Now, the middle brother, Joe Jonas. He broke up with Taylor Swift, Country singer, not long ago. Apparently, he broke up with Taylor Swift over the phone. Isn’t he such a nice guy? (His fans are still piling up, though.) Taylor Swift told Ellen Degeneres on the Ellen Degeneres Show that Jonas call had only been 27 seconds. She had been ditched by a guy over the phone in 27 seconds. That must be some kind of record. She also disses Joe Jonas in a video she posted on her MySpace. Go, Taylor! Joe Jonas replied something in his defence that I can’t remember because it wasn’t worth it, and wasn’t changing adults’ opinions of him.

Right, enough with their bad stuff. Let’s talk about their good stuff: their songs aren’t half-baked. My favourite happens to be Lovebug. The era in its Music Video happens to be the vintage era. I like vintage. :) The song starts very peacefully. First verse… Chorus… Second verse… Chorus… All serene. Then the bridge comes in, the songs turns rock and the lead singer, Joe Jonas, shrieks. Sorry, I didn’t appreciate that part. Anyhow, Lovebug’s my favourite song out all of the others. I like When You Look Me In The Eyes & Mandy too.

My this is a long post. I happen to be very enthusiastic in this kind of stuff, don’t I? Oh, well, gossiping is what I find fun, sorry to say. :] See ya!

Babysitters Club: Best Books for Light Reading

Hello! I know you've seen my previous blogskin but I decided to change the format by a little. The icon is no longer at the side, it's at the middle of the top of the posts. Now that that's over with, let's get to the point.

Babysitters Club is a really simple series of books written by Ann M. Martin. She's really old now, about 60-years-old. The Babysitters Club consists of interesting professional babysitters.)

President - Kristy Thomas. She thought up the idea of forming this business.
Vice-President - Claudia Kishi. She's the only one with a phone of her own line.
Secretary - Mary Anne Spier.
Treasurer - Stacey McGill.
Alternate Officer - Dawn Schafer.
Associate Member - Shannon Kilbourne.
Associate Member - Logan Bruno. (Only boy BSC member and Mary Anne's boyfriend.)
Junior Officer - Mallory Pike. (She's eleven-years-old.)
Junior Officer - Jessi Ramsey. (She's also eleven-years-old.)
Alternate Officer - Abby Stevenson, the newest member.

Yep, so many of them. The point of view switches. For example, Kristy and Dirty Diapers has Kristy's point of view, but Claudia and Crazy Peaches has Claudia's point of view. The situations in every book has something to do with everyday-life, all the situations allow girls our age to understand. However, even though they're only thirteen and eleven year olds, they have been to different places together without any adults, which kind of makes them seem very mature. In the books, they all seem very mature, like 15-year-olds or 16-year-olds.

But Babysitters Club is probably the best for light-reading. Very simple yet interesting. It's sad that they stopped printing the books now.

Yours,
Shalyn.
